We have all met LCs (and docs and lawyers and teachers and salespeople
and every other profession, in addition to moms and grandmas, etc) that are
wonderful and capable and those that you wonder how they could have possibly
gotten turned loose on the world.  Just because someone is an LC, doesn't
mean they know or believe the same that you and I do.
    Then, we always have to remember that what the LC actually said and what
the mom thinks she heard and repeated to you are frequently not the same.
This has always created misunderstandings and it's best to go straight to
the LC for her view of what was said.  Also, moms tell LCs incomplete
histories and may have mixed in what the doctor's office said.  Plus, some
LCs specialize in certain problems or age ranges or in what's normal, and
the mom may have gotten into the wrong practice.
    And my brief .02 worth, a dear friend planned all 8 of her children and
she's never worked outside of the home, in addition to her dh being in a low
paid profession.  She has the most wonderful children and is my example that
I try to follow.
