In those cultures which have taboos against sexual relations for a period of time after birth (weeks, months or years) are these taboos against sexual intercourse only, or all sexual interaction? And if its against all sexual interaction, do the men actually wait out that period of time, or do they "go elsewhere"?

Everytime I tell my husband that some other cultures have long periods of taboo against sex, he counters that those men are probably finding satisfaction elsewhere, and what would I think of that traditional practice???

Kathy, any information on that?
