I only know of two studies, one by Anne L. Wright and another by a von
Mutius, brought to my attention by Ms. Wright. I haven't been able to access
the von Mutius study. Wright's found an increased rate of asthma in
breastfed children whose mothers were asthmatic (or was it atopic?). But
there is concern with how accurately exclusive breastfeeding was reported.

Search the archives for Anne L. Wright and my post should come up. It also
references the Australian research which found that exclusive breastfeeding
is protective regardless of the asthma status of the mother. There has been
more information released out of Australia just recently.

I first came across this study in a parents list for asthmatic children -
one woman used it as a reason why she might not breastfeed. :-(
