We generalize here by saying that hospital-based classes turn out good
patients and independent/private classes turn out good consumers.  These
days, if they so desire, pregnant parents can obtain mountains of
information re childbirth and breastfeeding via books or the Internet.  As
Childbirth Educators we need to help them put this knowledge into
perspective and I feel it is essential to teach them *how* to communicate
their preferences and needs to HCPs.  My 2ml worth!
