HI
My husband is still laughing about the question of how long a woman
could sustain herself on her own breast milk. Thermodynamicaly Naw... But
he is giggling about the gymnastics that would be necessary. Which
brings me to the subject of this post , nursing in the car on long trips.
It is never safe to remove the infant from the car seat while the car is
in motion and if it isn't safe for baby to be out of the car seat then it
isn't safe for mom to be unbuckled either. Maybe someday I'll design a
breast extender. Anyway with the infant facing backwards and mom next to
her in the backseat it can be managed. But it is'nt comfortable and my
husband worried that if we got into a wreck with me in those contorted
configurations
I'd be damaged for sure. Also, leaning into the shoulder belt seemed to
cause plugged ducts. It isnt practical or even possible on some road ways
to stop on the erratic schedule a small baby needs to nurse. But we did
stop alot and the baby sucked on my finger for many a mile. Does any one
have any sugestions or comments on what worked for them.
 Thanks
