I see a similar problem. Now that we have convinced people there *is* such a
thing as nipple confusion, babies are being sent home from the hospital or
the first ped appt finger feeding, b/c they have lost too much weight (lots
of babies are losing a pound or more). But, by the time I see the moms, the
parents are addicted to finger feeding and it is less of a tool to organize
suck right before latch than it is a way to feed the baby, just like a
bottle. And to top it off, many of these moms have very low milk production
due to poor stimulation that the babies aren't interested in nursing. Yes,
there is *way* too much bf intervention going on, just as there is way too
much birth intervention.
