I get this all the time and I'm not sure that it is a virus.  I used to
think it was, but now think it is allergy/sensitivity related.  I always
get it when I eat pineapple or citrus/tomato based foods.  It almost
never hurts unless I eat pineapple.  My dentist has seen it and is never
impressed ;-)  I have also seen the patches on my 2 year old's tongue
and have never had a problem nursing.
