Of course I agree with all of your posts.  It is ridiculous that there is a well-baby nursery there.  The other hospital in the area doesn't have one and it has been that way for at least 15yrs.  The Peds admin defends the nursery by saying that it is what moms want and so it is a patient satisfaction issue.  This may be true for some families but I believe better education of the families about why it is dangerous to send your new baby there would at least help sway some moms.  Of course, I and the other LCs here aren't the only ones to see the moms so I was hoping for some clear message that we could all give.  Maybe if some of them say it often enough, they'll even start to believe it.  So far, anything we've tried hasn't been passed on to moms consistently by all of the staff.  Clearly, our system as a whole isn't exactly set up to aspire to be Baby-Friendly.  

What I'm looking for is data about the dangers.  We all know it to be true but that doesn't help me with the staff where I'm at.
