Hello there. I talked to a woman today at our clinic who did not want to
breastfeed. I tried to talk her into breastfeeding, but to no avail. She
has alot of issues to deal with right now. She had cervical cancer 3 years
ago when she was pregnant with her first child. Cancer runs very heavily in
her family. Her Aunt who is 26 just had a mastectomy. She named off alot
of other relatives who have had every cancer imanigable.

She was molested twice as a child and feels dirty about breastfeeding. My
question is that in this case my idea is that maybe it would be better for
her to bottlefeed. I did not push the issue of breastfeeding like I do with
other people. She is just really upset about all of this.

What are some of your ideas on this. Have you ever had to deal with someone
who you just didn't feel needed to breastfeed? Believe me, this is hard for
me because I am a very strong advocate on breastfeeding.

Carrie
