Linda said: We run monthly computer generated data reports on the mothers' and babies'
charts. The mothers' data is collected on feeding intent upon admission and
taken from the L&D admission form.<<<<

We are reading today Teresa's story about the mother who was determined not to breastfeed, until her baby latched on after delivery.

So I am wondering if the Core Measures require us to ask on ADMISSION what the mother's intent is? Not asking "how will you feed the baby?" but assuming breastfeeding has always been talked about as the best strategy... for the reason Teresa described. Some mothers, having committed to formula, may be less likey to reconsider than if they had not been asked up front.

Curious, since I don't work in hospital.
