I Have A Dream
That all pediatric oral surgeons would NEVER say "You have to be
crazy to consider breastfeeding!"
That all pediatricians would know how to say " RELACTATE" instead of soy
formula and be able to properly instruct women How To.
That all G.P.s would praise moms for heathly babies that are doing so
well on only Mom's "Perfect" Milk.
That E.R. physicians would go on national TV and discuss how infrequently
they see seriously ill breastfed babies.
That specialists would not link every cure for disease or injury to
weaning a toddler.
That formula companies would be banned from giving lectures on infant
feeding in medical schools.
That all WIC employees really linked nutrition with breastfeeding.
That formula companies would be banned from mailing cases of formula
to doctors offices. ( They do this when they know what a chilly
reception they will recieve if they come in - and now I have to
dispose of the stuff!)
That formula would be a Class 3 Drug. (This would make it necessary
to get a prescription from the doctor in person to get the ABM from
the DRUG store - and if you prescibe too much - doctor looses his DEA
number)
That lovers of breastfeeding would not have guilt over conveying
guilt to Bottlers.
That all health professionals working with pre-natal patients would
espouse the joys & benefits of breastfeeding.
That my mom, my neighbor, the school teacher had breastfed and could
support anyone who was looking for correct information and support.
That no one would need a lactation consultant.
That women would go to LLL meetings to discuss bread baking because
they knew how to nurse....because doesn't everybody???
That it wouldn't raise eyebrows to say nursing was an enjoyable and
completely wonderful part of a woman's sexuality.
That all women would feel comfortable nursing anywhere & anytime.
