The previous post by Frank Nice said that the risk/benefit ratio should be
weighed. My husband took Cipro after a deep

and dirty organism filled puncture wound of his foot this summer by a
4000ppm commercial pressure washer that could have resulted in a bone
infection and possible loss of his foot. Cipro was one of two antibiotics
he was put on after emergency orthopedic surgery. Keflex (sp) was the other.

Before he even finished the Cipro, he had stiff Achilles tendons and could
not walk normally, could not flex his feet. He is a large man and gets his
calcium from milk/dairy intake, green leafy vegetables and fresh juicing.

However, immediately after he finished the Cipro he chose to get IV
chelation therapy with a calcium push to have it bind to the Cipro. After
the first infusion treatment he could walk somewhat normally again. He was
greatly relieved, but it cost us another $200, $100 per treatment.

I do not think this should be a drug of first choice for breastfeeding moms.
Most people would not even know how to antidote its frightening side effect,
much less be near a clinic offering chelation.

Think of cipro as big gun stuff. Unfortunately it is being used almost
casually and that will result in resistance. Pat in SNJ
