Anne, I don't know of any adults (presently) drinking breastmilk for a
chronic illness but I have heard of this and know there are some
studies. When AIDS was first discovered, it is my understanding, all
the milk banks in the US were closed. The abundance of banked
breastmilk was, (ironically) fed to people with AIDS to boost their
immune systems ... anyone have these studies?

I also understand that ice cream is being made out of breastmilk in the
UK!!! (wouldn't it be better if all babies got their mother's milk?)
And, in Canada, our health stores sell colostrum pills (that are
supposed to cure all sorts of illnesses) but I can't see how there would
be anything alive in the colostrum... anyone want to weigh in here?

I know I didn't answer your question but an interesting thread! Would
love to know the outcome of the news story ... please share on Lactnet.

Renee (in Vancouver, Canada)
