i, too, really dislike this "you can't make all of the milk you need,
probably," attitude that is shown to adoptive mothers. i tell them, here are
several scenarios that may happen, depending on what happens before you get
the baby and the breastfeeding ability of the baby. you plan on making a
complete milk supply, and  i will have the plans/equipment/etc. ready when
and if you need to supplement.

of course, this rarely works because adoptive mothers are so far removed from
any knowledge of attachment parenting/normal breastfeeding, that they cannot
even imagine it. i strongly encourage them to attend LLL meetings and read up
on attachment parenting, etc. i find the moms who produce the most are those
who have already successfully breastfed and lived an attachment family
lifestyle, or those who are enthusiastically ready to become that sort of
family.
