May 15 is International Kangaroo Care Awareness Day.

Here are some of the resources I have found helpful in working with parents and with caregivers to inform them about the benefits of skin-to-skin and kangaroo care. Do others of you have additional ones to share with us all?

Skin-to-Skin care to enhance early bonding, attachment and breastfeeding:

Photo of Skin-to-Skin Kangaroo Care with Twins: (My La Leche League group is made up of all mothers nursing twins and triplets, so I especially appreciate this photo, first shared here on Lactnet by Jacquie Nutt, I think).

Isis Parenting is holding a free webinar titled "The Science of Skin to Skin and Kangaroo Care." You have to register at https://cc.readytalk.com/r/b22yw1zsma5 but it is free and you can view it in recorded form afterwards if you can't watch at
the live time on May 15. Their other offerings that I have seen were very good.

And it is worth rereading the Lactnet post by Diane Wiessinger of 28 April 2008, titled "Kangaroo Mother Care - not!" A profound statement we should all be aware of and familiar with. Maybe Diane would be willing to repost it.
