Dear Lactnetters:

Yesterday I signed back on Lactnet and am anxious to reconnect with all of
you dear people. I returned to Merida on Aug.8 after 4 wks. in the U.S. and
am finally getting to my backed-up e-mail.

Meeting so many of you at the ILCA conference was wonderful...not to
mention the sensory overload of my first ILCA complete with its own BF
Trade Fair! I had to purchase an extra-large cheapo suitcase to get all of
my acquired texts, slides, videos, etc. home to Mexico, but happily I
wasn't charged any overweight.

The only people at ILCA from Latinamerica were a gal from Brazil, and yours
truly...a sad commentary when you learn that about 980 people were there
from "all over the world". And a situation which I plan to remedy, slowly
but surely.

My question for today is: How do I go about building up a cadre of future
Lactation people here? Do I draw on my successful moms? Interested nurses,
etc?
What's the first step....e-mail me here, or directly, if you'd prefer. The
traffic on Lactnet is heavy and I don't want to congest it even more.

By the way, while in Houston I had the opportunity to visit Texas
Children's Hospital and meet Nancy Hurst who heads their excellent
Lactation Program. She is doing wonderful work and had been tipped off that
I was coming via Lactnet.
I also visited the Chidren's Nutrition Research Center, also in Houston.

On Sept. 18 they are sponsoring a 1-day workshop on BF and Premature
Infants which I hope to take. Speakers are Dr. Paula Meier, Dr. Richard
Schanlon, and Nancy Hurst. Nancy, are you on-line? Can you tell us more?

Talk to you all soon,

love from the Mexican Milk Maid
