So we know the meds get into the bloodstream in a big way with the epidural.


 

With the intrathecal I was told they use a fraction of the amount of drugs
compared to the epidural - is this true?  Also, if the meds are going
directly into the spinal fluid (vs the bloodstream) if they do circulate
into the bloodstream eventually how soon and what are the effects on the
babies?  Is it less effect than the epidural?  The same?  Do we still get
floopy babies on an intrathecal like we do the epidural?
