WOW, I guess I shouldn't be surprised!

When I called the "expert" feeding line to let them know I was a lactation specialist and my phone call last week was an attempt to assess how quickly formula was suggested to an exclusively breastfeeding mother...I was transferred to a supervisor.

This is what the supervisor said: "We are aware of the information that person gave you about mixing breastmilk with formula to increase calories...and we have discussed it with her extensively!" When I asked how she knew about it...she didn't answer. THEN I posed the question...are you a member of LACTNET...she said "YES!"

It is so difficult for me to understand (as a nurse and lactivist) how far a company is willing to go to promote their product at the expense of breastfeeding mothers and their babies. How can they sleep at night!

So sad!
Marie Ivey, BSN, RN, LCCE, and a very frustrated CLC!
