Analisse: I'd say there's a good chance there's an interductal abscess in
there, but the safe advice is to have her checked for cancer as well. Does
she have a fever? Does it hurt to palpatate the lump? Is the bruising
turning green and migrating? Has there been any pus in the milk? It is my
experience that moms who've had chronic plugged ducts, chronic yeast, or
repeated mastitis will present with these nasty bruises and lumps, so you
need to get the full history. If she doesn't have a fever, then deep
massage, heat, vitamin C, echinacea, and lecithin over several days may
help her body resolve this itself.
