No. I do not think this at all. I agree with you that most people of faith
have the beliefs about babies and breastfeeding that you and I do, but
(sadly) some are brainwashed by this man (and other similar spiritual baby
trainers).

I am a fundamentalist Christian myself who has battled this man's materials
in several local churches of my denomination. The LACTNET post I made was my
take on his materials, as a Christian myself--from a Christian perspective.
I was trying to put my finger on why it is so difficult to persuade women of
faith to see the light after "buying into" this man's program. In my
opinion, it is "religious" (if we want to use that term) brainwashing.

I was kind of thinking out loud in a way when I typed my post (though I did
read it before I sent it, thinking it was purely nonoffensive). In my mind,
subjects such as where we will spend eternity, earthly pain for eternal gain,
etc., are such fundamental subjects to us as people of faith that we are more
vulnerable to believe a man like Ezzo on these points. Am I rambling??

Anyway, my parents (thanks to getting involved on this issue at my request)
singlehandedly had his materials banned from all Southern Baptist stores and
offices. My husband and I left one church because we could not get the
pastoral staff to see the error of this man's ways. The quotes around the
word "religious" were meant more to show that I was picking a word, and I
didn't know if that was the right word to use. The quotes were not meant to
slam people of faith--I am one!--by putting a sarcastic tone around the word.

I hope I didn't offend anyone else. It seems so easy to misread emails and
get offended since we can't hear or see others when they are expressing
themselves through email (myself included).

I was trying to post this email without making it obvious that I was a person
of faith, because I was afraid of being accused of bringing my religious
slant into the conversation (though I feel my perspective was purely from
being a Christian myself). Clearly I succeeded in making my faith
"unobvious" (if that is a word) since it appeared that I was slamming or
stereotyping people of faith from my email.

Anyway, I hope this clears it up. Again, I don't come even close to thinking
that all people of faith believe the same as Ezzo on these points. I agree
that most think he is a sham!
