Catching up after a week away.... The nipplette. I suggest that anyone
interested contacts the distributor/manufacturer and asks to see copies of the
research papers. I believe the much vaunted evidence is based on perhaps 20
women, not randomly selected, and not all of them were breastfeeding or
pregnant, and if I recall correctly, the results were not 100%. I purchased one
for my trainees to see, and have tried using it - I found it painful. I
certainly wouldn't like to use it for long! What damage might it do?

When I see a RCT with a good sized cohort, I might recommend it. Until then,
what we KNOW is that many women's nipples will 'improve' anyway, and that (as
shown by the MAIN trial) women with 'inverted' nipples often CAN breastfeed.
The figures in MAIN may look low to US eyes, but for UK they are good!

My 12 year old daughter likes it, though - you can use it anywhere on your body,
and it amuses her to use it on her forehead. Strange child. I try to keep it
away from her.
