# is pregnant with her first baby and at 28 weeks felt so engorged
that she hand expressed and was able to obtain about 15cc of golden
colostrum. Weekly since then, she has had to hand express to
alleviate a feeling of fullness. #

About three years ago or so I met a mom who was given Parlodel twice
during her pregnancy because she was leaking so much milk. The first
time of Parlodel didn't help to stop the leaking so she got it again a
bit later.

I was silently wondering if that might have any negative effects on
her milk coming in after delivery, but no, it didn't, she got plenty
of milk, and actually donated tons of milk for the local hospital.

We never discussed with her about the reasons of all this, she didn't
brought it up and I didn't ask, but I did wonder if she had a
prolactinoma.

Anyway, if your mom gets engorged and feels she needs to relieve the
engorgement by expressing - and not even every day - why couldn't she.
Might "not expressing" even raise the risk of mastitis?

Who remembers the study about the oxytocin receptors in the uterus,
and how they become active only shortly before the labour? I know
there's more of it in the archives, and google might help, too.

If she hasn't yet asked a doctor about the leaking/engorgement, maybe
she should.
