I thought you'd all want to hear about a page in the newsletter put out by Similac Welcome Addition Club. I receive it unfortunately despite repeated attempts to cancel. (I have both called and returned them marked "return to sender-- refused"). Of course I never signed up for them, but I have a 2 month old son and they find everyone who gives birth...no matter whether they want to be part of the "club" or not! I waited until the last minute to register at the hospital and had a CNM deliver...so who knows how I'm getting it. BTW, my dh confessed that he had thrown out around 5 cases of formula which arrived in the mail, without mentioning it to me, shortly after the birth.

The page says:
"FOOD FOR THOUGHT
Research shows, children fed Similac With Iron during their 1st year had IQ scores at 3 years of age similar to those of children who had been breastfed.

Good nutrition gives your baby the opportunity to grow and develop to the best of his ability. And Similac gives you the assurance your baby's getting excellent nutrition. We have the scores to prove it."

There is no disclaimer about BF on the page. There is also no reference.

Sigh.
