Shirley Gross, MD, CCFP, IBCLC provided an outstanding presentation at ILCA
in Scottsdale earlier this month on nipple damage and she spoke extensively
about the different gel dressings.  She runs the Edmonton Breastfeeding
Clinic.  She listed an extensive bibliography, but I can't be sure which
articles referred to aquagel. She did mention aquagel specifically in her
lecture (my notes say "$$--add saline"  I'll have to listen to the tapes I
bought of her lecture to decipher that)   I have requested a copy of her
presentation.  If I receive more details on the references I will share
them.
