Hi Mary,

Yes, this mother had your guidance and, as you say, other mothers obviously 
haven't looked for the appropriate support. I expect that when the advice to 
dose with the evening primrose oil doens't work the promised miracle, 
mothers would typically blame their bodies.

The Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine's Protocol (#9, I think) on 
galactogogues would be an excellent resource to send this OB. While it 
examines galactogogues, it first discusses good, basic strategies to improve 
breastfeeding. As it was written by physicians for physicians, it may 
interest this man, who obviously wants to help mothers.

Virginia, I completely agree. Thankfully, the mom did come to me and 
received guidance. Of course, one can only guess how many women were given 
this "sage" advice!
