Dear Nancy, Because I have a particular interest in hyperbili, I was
interested in the studies that you reference and have a few questions.
As I understand from what you are saying there is an enzyme present in
brmilk (not present in formulas- some types more than others OR in lesser
amts.??) that contributes to hyperbili. How was the presence of this enzyme
calculated and are its numbers (as indicated in the study) reflective of
colostral phase milk, transitional , mature or are the numbers independent of
this and if so how were they determined?
Was the physiology of brmilk digestion factored into this in any way? ie. the
idea that br milk is much more easily and rapidly processed, potentially much
less stasis, has laxative properties.....couldn't that effect the function of
the enzyme or diminish the significance of the number?
Just musing....Thanks for sharing, maybe someday I can get to a library and
look them up!
