Nicki and listmates,

I'm speaking from personal experience only here. Both of my children
always preferred the left breast (heard my heartbeat, breathing, and my
stomach gurgling as in utero??). I worked full time and breastfed both,
pumping at work (12 hour shifts). I always about 1-11/2 ounces more milk
from the left than the right.

As an aside, I have known a few mothers who nursed for one to two years
from one breast only. They all had seriously inverted nipples on the other
breast that just never poked out to their or their baby's satisfaction.
Though they were definitely lop-sided, the one sided nursing didn't seem to
bother either mom or baby. Baby's growth was great in all cases.
