Hi list members, I lurk mostly but just had to pipe up and comment on the watermelon issue.

It may have been mentioned previously,( or commonly known) but I did want to mention that I was informed that it is actually the seeds in the melon that have the diuretic effect. Pumpkin seeds also have the same effect I am told.

It is also recommend by Midwives in my area for edema during late pregnancy. The local Midwives always advise "eat the watermelon, and the seeds!"

Here is a reference, I have it stored in my files, so I cannot site the original source:

CITRULLUS.-WATERMELON SEED. The seed of Cucu'mis citrul'lus a taeniafuge, and also have diuretic and demulcent properties. Dose: 2 dr. to 2 oz. (8 to 60 Gm.).

>"I know about cabbage and what you do with that, but WHAT ?>are you doing with>WATERMELON??!!"

Oh the fun one could have with that one.
