Ilene,

Give the same course, call them Breastfeeding Educators - and let them go!
they can offer their services to hospitals as assistants for support
groups,
telephone callers to moms to help identify those who need calls from RN's,
visit moms in NICU and give them love and support while they visit their
babies,
offer to visit moms in the home, etc.

The moms will figure out what they can cope with - Just like La Leche
League
Leaders, some will enjoy groups, others one on one - and even if they don't
do anything
"officially" they will be breastfeeding-educated and the support in their
community and
family.

As part of the teaching they need to know what their limitations are -
legally as well
as in skills. But I really haven't found too many who go in deeper than
they can. In fact,
the moms I know are the first ones to direct a friend to an LC - and come
with them to support
their friends.

(Who wishes she had as much time as there are people asking for training!)
