I am in touch with a new mother in El Paso, Texas who desperately needs
breastfeeding help. She delivered Wednesday at William Beaumont Army
Medical Center where she initiated breastfeeding within an hour after
birth. However, I do not feel the baby has achieved a successful
latch-on even yet at 4 days post partum. She is pumping like crazy and
feeding the baby pumped breast milk only, shocking since she left the
hospital with a predictable supply of FREE abm. I know, next
question....how is she feeding the breastmilk ....And yes, the dreaded
answer....a bottle. Lets face it she has received a combination of
bad-advice and worse-advice and then today after seeking out a LC at the
hospital where she delivered the staff informed her *THAT PERSON* was on
leave and she would have to wait until *SHE* returned. "WAIT"....she
told me near tears..."HOW CAN I WAIT?" I have offered her as much
support as I can from where I sit, and I am so *frustrated* because this
new mother is also my half sister and we are 16 hours apart! Please, if
there is anyone on this list in the El Paso area e-mail me personally so
that I can help her connect with an individual who is capable of doing a
thorough and proper assessment.
Thanks for *any* prompt response.
