Diane, it is not just girls who nurse their toys. . . First thing my
daughter nursed was a toy called "popoid", a weird looking guy who came
in pieces and you used different combinations of the pieces to put it
together.

First thing my older son nursed was a stuffed moose.He would call
himself Moose's Mom and sometimes he would say that moose was crying for
"nums" at home and we had to get home so he could nurse the moose.

the youngest now 2.5 , has not yet nursed anything. I assume at some
point the idea will occur to him.

I don't think nursing a creature is strictly a girl child phenomenon.
