First of all here comes the good old limited population study (of one:
me!). I distinctly recall having an infective mastitis during which, at
one point, I would have been happy to die from. My husband couldn't keep
the warm/hot packs up to me quick enough. Cold packs caused greater pain -
hot packs were soothing. This has been reported to me by others with
mastitis too.

Non-lactation mastitis.. no, but I did once see a pregnant woman who had a
breast abscess. She wasn't breastfeeding or expressing at the time. The
end of the story is not one I wish to recall - not after the surgeon had
finished with her.

before Easter.
