Hi Kathy:

Many of the OBs here find that a little progesterone suppository helps the
depression dramatically in some patients.  Further, there *are*
antidepressants, as you probably saw in the article you mentioned (I haven't
seen it) that are compatible with breastfeeding.

Is there no option regarding her job?  Seems like if there were an area in
her life where she could reduce stress *and* get some therapy *and* keep
breastfeeding with all those good hormones (& other emotional perks for mom)
that she might do better.
