First, congratulations Pamela Hendrix and I am so happy for your daughter
and all your extended family! The conversations around birth, kids,
grandchildren are all wonderful.

I want to share my own daughter's "perfect" birth stories...

First baby two weeks overdue, working hard with doula (hired by me as my
middle child always got put off and her college graduation was the due
date). Transferred from Birth Center midwives at that point to hospital
care. Fetal distress at eight centimeters and a primary cesarean for 9 lb 2
oz OP boy. Called me for help nursing and later informed the nurses that she
needed a pump (this was after the septic workup of course - no STS as "she
made the baby too hot") and would figure out finger feeding herself if they
"couldn't do it".

Second baby, planned an in-hospital VBAC with her darling doula (thank you
Georgie Hampton in Fairbanks AK). Baby wouldn't turn from his single
footling breech position but she did wait until her waters broke for the
surgery. (A colleague said, "Hmmm....not much you can do when the baby puts
the brakes on!")

There's been lots of growing and learning for her here. And as a Lamaze
teacher and advocate of normal birth, I know she had the least intervention
for the births that was appropriate.

And I can't wait to meet the little guy in two weeks....
