<< << A side note -- at least one psychological / developmental test my kids
have
taken, intended for toddlers, includes as part of its kit a baby doll and a
bottle, to go with the instruction, "The baby is hungry, can you feed the
  baby?" >> >>

When my youngest son was 6, he was doing the crossword puzzle on the placemat
of a family restaurant. While checking his answers he exclaimed, "Mom, THEY
got one wrong!!" It seems one of the clues was "You feed a baby with this",
and it was a 6-letter word beginning with "b". HE had written breast, but
you know what THEY expected. The neat thing here is that, by age 6, he was
already CONVINCED there is only one way to feed babies--and THEIR way was
WRONG!

Now, this is the same child who sort of got me in "hot water" when, at a big
event for the nuns who own my hospital, he handed back a candybar that the
CEO of the healthcare system (also a nun) had given him, saying, "We don't
eat that kind of candy--that company kills babies with the formula they
make." Sigh. We had to have a talk about tact, also!

And, on the psychology testing topic, my older son also took the Peabody
Picture Vocabulary test as a 4-yo, and got every single picture right except
one. He had no clue what an iron was! Welcome to the "permanent press"
capital of the Midwest! :-)

Smiles,
