I would like to start a discussion on the new discipline procedures
document regarding reporting to health care providers. There several
things listed as the IBCLCs duty and one is:
"Duty to report truthfully and fully to the health care system" (but
this is vague and doesn't say exactly how).

Later, the document mentions sanctions and among them are sanctions for
an IBCLC that:
"a. with the intent to deceive the health care system, knowingly makes
a false statement or submits a false document; or
b. improperly withholds material information, thereby causing serious
or potentially serious injury to a person, or causing a significant or
potentially significant adverse effect on the delivery of health care
services."

Has anyone else read this document and what do you think?

Kathy Eng, BSW, IBCLC
