<< Everytime, this "issue" is raised, it makes me cringe--makes me feel like
we are making no progress at all--why are we discussing "breastfeeding in
public" anyway? We don't discuss "breathing in public" or "eating in
public". We need to get to the point where there is no "breast"feeding,
there is only feeding. We don't refer to other mammals as "breast"feeding or
"teat"feeding or whatever. There is only feeding or nursing. I think this is
really a situation where our own terminology is working against us. It is
typical when a mother pulls out a bottle to say she is "feeding the baby",
but when a mother lifts her shirt, she is "breastfeeding the baby". Which
one sounds like the norm?>>

Oh, I sooooooo agree!!!!! I had my 4th child 3.5 months ago, and one of my
PP nurses asked me, "Did you feed your other babies?" when she saw me
nursing or we were talking about nursing or something. I LOVED that!!!!
(She was from England.)
