Hello all,

Yesterday a friend called my attention to the Lawton's flyer. Lawtons is an
Atlantic Canadian drug store chain. (I am uncertain if there are stores
outside of the maritimes.)

The flyer had an article titled "Breastfeeding: A Healthy Choice", with the
following text:

"For many years breastfeeding a baby maintained a stigma of poverty, need
and of last resort more than a personal decision or choice. Science had gi
en us the ability to recreate breast milk in a powder, concentrate or
ready-to-use format and it seemed like the logical and medically sound
nutritional resource.

In recent years, breastfeeding has been determined by the healthcare
community to be the infant nutrition choice for new Moms. However, some
women may find it difficult, some may be advised against breastfeeding for
a number of reasons by their physicians, some may experience an infection
or irritation and have to stop while others simply do not wish to
breastfeed their child. Formula nutrition is an appropriate alternative in
these situations.

The article is accompanied by a photo of Cheryl Boudreau, Store Manager. It
does not make it clear if she is the author of the article.

I cannot find an e-mail address or a listing for head office. Please help
we articulate why this is not an article that promotes breastfeeding?
