Oh dear! I've been reading with interest the posts about pumping at
work, and feel I must comment. There's been a great deal of "opinion"
and personal anecdote stated as "fact" concerning receiving milk that
has been expressed vs. straight from the breast, and I think that the
discussion would be better served if we stuck to the facts. I'd hate
to discover that this discussion dissolved into a working mom/staying
home debate! Please don't undermine the efforts of those (myself
included) that worked long and hard to get a lactation program started
at their place of employment. Sure, it would be great if we could all
bring our babies to work, or had a career where it wouldn't matter if we
took a few years off, but remember that all women's lives and work
situations are different.

Has there been any studies that have looked at the similarities and
differences of breastmilk that is expressed vs. straight from the
breast? Or how about a study of babies that received breastmilk, but
were separated from their mother, vs. breastfed babies that were not
separated?
