I mentioned my colickly #1 daughter who had the infrequent bowel
movements, whom I now know exhibited her signs of hypothyroidism early.

However, besides being given sugar water after her birth in the
hospital, she also had one dose of phenobarbitol for her crying. All
these posts helped me recall an incident I wished to suppress. The
pediatrician sent it home with us for me to be able to get some sleep,
and my husband and I decided jointly not to give it. But he felt sorry
for me as I was the 10 hour a night sleeper during the pregnancy and he
felt I needed my rest. Well, our daughter slept alright, she slept and
slept and slept and my milk came in and came in.

I was paranoid she'd never reawaken and just sat and watched her, afraid
they'd murdered her (except she was breathing.) I still didn't get any
sleep. I just wished I had known of Doris Haire's "The Cultural Warping
of Childbirth" before I had my first daughter. There would have been no
separation or glucose water.
