I have heard on both CNN and Channel 7 Chicago (WLS, I beleive) that
breastmilk, forumla and juice will be allowed for babies flying with an
adult. The adult DOES have to taste the fluid. My question: What about a
mother who is now with her child, but is pumping out of town and bringing
the milk home? (Let's not get into why someone would travel without a
child long enough to need to pump..) I have heard nothing about this. Only
that the child has to be there.

Also, the reporting was only talking about "babies" I am concerned about
toddlers and preschoolers who may need their milk in a cup. (Or even
juice.) I hope no mother with a 3 or 4 year old (or older) would be
hassled about this. I guess it will happen, though.

If the child is with the mother, maybe the Airlines need to make it known
that it will be a lot easier to simply NURSE the child (if they are
breastfed) rather than taking a bottle of human milk onboard, and running
not only the chance of getting an uptight screener, who may take it away,
but to avoid lactose intolerance in adults. I know I can't taste my milk,
any more than a drop, because I have serious Lactose Intolerance. As for
tasting formula, probably a good thing, although some will worry
about "contamination" it could be poured into an other container, or even
the cap of the bottle.

One does not get much time in the line, my guess is mothers or fathers
carrying liquid for their young children will not be given a lot of time
to decide how to do it.

Even though I am no longer nursing anybody, I am glad we returned from San
Fransisco a few days before this new paranoia started. *sigh* (I am
refering to the airlines, not the mothers.)
