Well it was a very hectic two weeks. The baby continued to lose
weight, at least four more people complained to the doctor about
what was going on with this baby. He did a home visit and
continued on his course of waiting and seeing.

Wittnesses observed her being rough with the baby when bottle
feeding, delatching(ex. ramming her finger in the babys mouth,
poking the inside of its cheek and leaving a mark), and burping.

She has a history of not feeding her children according to
the friend who took children regularly in order to feed them.
The second child (age two)fends for himself mostly so is normal
size. Child #1 was diagnosed as having chrones disease. Same
doctor, evidently the social services(SS) had to intervene to
get her hospitalized too.

The end of this so far is that SS were called by several people.
Evidently the social worker put on the case is being watched by
the media and maybe sued too cause of her poor work. I don't
know the details. Anyway the baby was looked at and The mother
was asked questions and SS left the baby there. By then though
my friend had started feeding the baby ebm and abm two days
before so it was gaining weight. But the mom would continually
say that's enough, you're feeding him too much, he needs to
rest.

SS said for everyone but mother (and father -ya right)to stop
feeding the baby and they would check the baby in four days.
The grandparents would not comply. All believe it wasn't a
weight loss issue anymore but a child abuse/neglect issue. They
contacted higher ups and now SS is weighing baby every day.
Doctor cleaned his hands of the whole thing.

Mother and father were confronted by the relatives and friend.
Mother admitted having trouble feeding the kids and having a lot
to improve. She admitted being angry at the baby. The dad on
the other hand kept denying everything, even when the mom
admitted them. He is usually just playing on the computer and
oblivious to anything going on in his family.

Her other two kids were taken, with permission of mom and dad,
by relatives for two weeks maybe a month.

This Baby will be her first child not breastfed! Remember she
refused lactation help until the 6th week. The person she got
help from told me that the mothers details of her problems
seemed jumbled. The friend, who knew what the lactation helpers
instructions were, afterwards witnessed the instructions not
being followed (because the mother started keeping a log of
weighings and feedings -some of which were 4 and 9 hours apart).
The mother decided it was just too hard to try anymore -the baby
was getting so weak it was having trouble even taking the bottle
she "rammed in his face"(according to witnesses).

Anyways, these were a few of the details.
I hope this clears up the vageness of my other post. Thanks to
all who responded, the majority of whom said talk to the
doctor.
If he had done what we hoped though, he would have
hospitalized the baby and ordered the mother to see a lactation
consultant, at least.
