I am a long time lurker who has learned so much from this listserve. I rarely
post, but I saw a little guy today who just made me smile and I thought I'd
share. I am a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner/Lactation Consultant in a busy Peds.
practice, and I have mom's permission to post. I see mostly newborns and
less older babies, though I really enjoy them, too. One little 7 month old came
to see me with his mom last week. Both mom and baby were rather frantic at
her sudden acute drop in milk production, as he's not interested in solids yet. I
found out that mom was under serious stress prior to the loss of milk supply
and made a number of specific recommendations to increase her supply.

They returned today a much happier nursing couple. Mom's supply is steadily
increasing and the little guy learned a new skill. When he finishes nursing, he
claps! Talk about validating!
