Lyla,
I am in private practice and I carry a few herbs in my office because I know
that they're not available in my community. What good is it for me to
recommend an herb that's not available? I see it as a service and I feel I practice
ethically because I educate my moms of their options. I prefer to recommend
galactogogues such as Reglan or Domperidone because there's more evidence to
support their effects. I hesitate to offer herbs since the evidence is not as
consistently there. But, when a mom makes an informed decision to not use
prescription galactogogues, I like to offer her the herbal remedies if that is her
choice. The herbs I carry are More Milk, More Milk Plus, Sage, Fenugreek,
and Calendula.
