help women get through these 'inconvenient' times."



I have no doubt that everything involved in nursing a child helps everyone
to enjoy the early years more.  And the later years too.  Babies happen
unexpectedly, as does everything else in life.



The people that puzzle me are the ones that decide before the baby is born
that they will parent at arms' length - and then they don't change their
minds when the baby is born.  If they are having children because of
societal or unconscious expectations that that is what people do, then I'd
suggest we all support them to not have children.



Some time ago I read about a midwife who doesn't ask her clients whether
they have decided on a 'feeding' method and simply places the baby on the
mother's abdomen after birth.  Mother instincts are a powerful thing, if
allowed to kick in.
