This an interesting thought.
I just read this in Pediatrics (105; 5: 1041-45 - the abstract in on-line).
"Systemic candidiasis in extremely low birth weight infants receiving
topical petrolatum ointment for skin care: A case-control study". Campbell
JR, Zaccaria E and Baker CJ. "Conclusions. We conclude that the use of TPO
promoted an increase in the incidence of SC in ELBW infants."
Perhaps someone is familiar with "topical petrolatum ointment" - would this
be similar to lanolin?
