Thanks to Marsha for her DHA/ARA explanation!
Below is my understanding of the evolution of formula company's belief in
ARA, DHA;
1. many studies show increased IQ in breastmilk fed infants
2. formula companies PRETEND this isn't true .......but actively research
*why*
3. formula companies continue to PRETEND.... until they have product ready to
offer....
4. formula companies tout "we can make your baby as smart as a breast fed
baby!"
5. "       "     "     "       "      suggest MAYBE breastmilk doesn't have
enough of this wonder product or ...its too variable and IRONICALLY these
suggestions start showing up in research literature.
 All well and good to research except for the FOCUS (decidely
unWeissingerized!) which now holds *enriched* formula as the standard (instead of the
breastmilk that it was attempting to emulate!) and instead of telling Moms that the
fatty acid portion of their milk is fine but could be even further improved
(along with their cardiovascular health etc!) if they avoid trans fats and eat
more EFAs (which is what the research suggests!), the " " " "
  have turned it around AGAIN! Is this correct?
