It is a fact that this candiate has been told by IBLCE that she will be
charged $150 if she wished to feed her baby during the exam session.

This candidate will be extremely well prepared for the exam after having
worked in a busy breastfeeding clinic for nearly 2 years with 4 IBCLC's 3 of
whom have recertified, 2 have recertified twice. She will also be writing
along with 4 other colleagues at the same location who are equally well
prepared.

I have no doubt that she will be able to complete each session in the time
alotted and she did not request extra time. She was initally told by IBCLE
that she would not be allowed to leave to feed her baby. Now the response
has improved to yes but with the cost.

I believe this fee to be discriminatory as she is being singled out for
different costs based on her needs. The provincial human right's code in the
province where the exam will be conducted are very clear that a mother
cannot be discriminated against because of pregnancy or breastfeeding.
While the exam is given by an international organization, it is being
conducted locally and local laws would still apply.

The $150 cost is not a rumour for those of you who thought this an unlikely
event. It is the current position of the IBLCE.

Thanks
