I suggest that people who are concerned about anthrax issues go to the CDC
website and read their information.

It is true that anthrax is not contagious, however if one person comes into
contact with a source and gets spores all over their clothes, hands, and
hair, and then comes in contact with other people, the other people can also
get spores on them, including in their lungs. Once a person has been
infected, they can't pass anthrax on to others from the life-cycle stages in
their body, but they can certainly carry the spores around from place to
place.

I believe that the last case of anthrax in the US prior to the newsman in
Florida was several years ago. It may very well be the case, though, that a
certain percentage of people walk around with anthrax in their nasal
passages all the time, without being sick --- just as most people have low
levels of strep in their throat (without having "strep throat") and everyone
over the age of 2 years has Herpes Simplex I in their bodies (without having
a fever blister) and most women have yeast in their vaginal tract without
having an overgrowth. I don't think anyone knows what percentage of the
population walks around with anthrax in their nasal passages.
