Hi netters and judy D. thanks for your reply.

The babe and mom seem to have answered some of my questions about lactation
with breast reduction Surgery, etc..
She called me tonight apx. 8 hours since I visited. Told me The baby "nursed
all day" and never seemed satified. She was following babys hunger cues,
and baby was hungry all the time.
Said the baby acted fussy/hungry even after nursing. There was no start or
finish all day to babys feeds. Mothers vibe is the hospital gave the baby
water or ABM while in hosp. nursery. Since the baby didn't act this way in
the hosp.
My own gut feeling is she really isn't producing enough milk, and the baby is
hungry. I sugested she feed ABM, use a dropper and a SNS instead of the
bottle, I had her call ped. to inform her of whats going on, she made an
appt. The Dr. said "just give bottles of formula" and I'll see you on Wed.
MoM told me she wanted to still have a "Nursing" experience. She said it
is important to her for now.
We have a breastpump/accessories 24 hour deliveries here in New York City.
Called to get a SNS delivered tonight. Had her feed baby till satified with
droppers of ABM until the SNS arrives.
Few Hours Later:
SNS arrived, she called me after the baby fed again. Mom said Baby now seems
happy from SNS feed. Babe took almost 3oz and had wet diaper soon after, and
fell asleep.
I will keep on encouraging mom to call a LC experienced with this, so LC
can talk with Ped. and manage/work with mother and MD in an extended
relationship. It all happened too quickly in one day.

Judy, I think this women is having some fullness, But if the milk is not
able to come out of her breasts because of medical Hx. what will continued
SNS stimulation do? Will she start to get constant engorgement.? Is an SNS
not advised? Is this another wait and see?

 Good night,

Ruth Callahan
